The Cat Street Gallery and prolific film director Pang Ho-Cheung are pleased to present REBORN.
This pop-up exhibition is Pang’s curatorial debut and will showcase the talents of ten emerging international artists and designers. Each artist has recreated a poster for ten of Pang’s feature films spanning 2001 to 2012.
Born in Hong Kong in 1973, Pang is credited as one of the region’s most popular directors. Best known for You Shoot, I Shoot (2001), Isabella (2006) and Love in the Buff (2012), his films are imbued with dark humour and his unique style of portraying the realities of everyday Hong Kong life has won him fans and awards the world over. Pang, an award-winning writer, has also produced more than thirty novels and short stories, many of which have been made into films.
Pang’s Isabella (2006) is the recipient of the 56th Berlin Film Festival Silver Bear award. He has copious awards to his name, including Best New Director and Best Screenplay at the 2004 and 2011 Hong Kong Film Awards respectively, as well as Best Screenplay at the 7th Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Awards. Pang’s films have screened at the Toronto Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival and the Sitges Film Festival.
